" He should just quit. This has been going on long enough and he needs to be a better man than he has been and just step aside. If he is tired of it like everyone else in Clayton, or Rabun County as a whole for that matter, then just leave office. Rabun and Clayton want people to visit Rabun County and visit the city of Clayton. Well, to do that we need to make the news in other ways than by the mayor and council getting into it. The good old boy politics have come to an end and it's time for change. People of Clayton should not have to be represented by people that do not respect the voters who put them there. Elected officials need to respect their office and more importantly respect the voters that put them into office. So, how about Mayor Ramey stepping down and allowing someone else to come in and take the reins of the city and lead it into a new era of life, which is the world of today! After all the legal stuff is settled, and Mr. Ramey is found not guilty of his actions, then he can run again and try to get his seat back. But if the people of Clayton are smart they will think long and hard before selecting Mr. Ramey as mayor or any other elected position. "

" It's possible the circus known as Clayton city politics could manage with one fewer clown. Why should the people be denied? We pay (and continue to pay) good money for this show. New tires for his wife: peanuts really. I say tear down the City Hall building and replace it with something meaningful: such as a Big Top. "

" We had been frequent visitors of the area for the past 15 years, but now find ourselves avoiding Rabun County entirely because of the more than apparent corruption in government, law enforcement, and social services offices. Fortunately we have never had to deal with any of them directly, but the dispair and complaints of the citizens who allow all this to go on is just as sickening. Pure homegrown corruption, closed-minded backwardsness. It will be difficult to get an infusion of reason when anyone with good reasoning is ready to just up and leave. Rabun has some really good people, I have even lived and worked there and my honest, respectful, and heartfealt advice to them is get out while you still can before one of these crazies turns against you, railroads you, blackballs you, assaults you, takes your kids, incarcerates you, sets you up, or worse. Rabun County shouldn't be such an unstable place with the foundations your families built. Run this riff raff off and be a home to your people. "

" I am new to this county after waiting many years to finally settle here and living in several Podunk towns along the way. I saw three of those same towns have headline news with their lousy choices for mayor — and saw all three mayors step aside and actually act like they were real men. But no! Not Ramey! I thought, hum ... bigger town, less political crap ... but instead it has mushroomed and made news all over the state. Good ole' boys are awesome folks. But maybe the good ole' boys of politics need to retire. "

" This truly has gone on long enough. I have owned a home in Rabun County for the past 5 years and Mayor Ramey's behavior is a true embarassment. I don't see how anyone can get on with the business of running a city with him being such an antagonistic obstacle to all things not presented by him or benefitting him or his family. Enough is enough- throw him out! "
