UPDATE: Two fatalities in accident involving 5 vehicles near Clayton Saturday

A Scaly Mountain, N.C. couple was killed and three others were injured in an accident involving five vehicles on Saturday, according to Georgia State Patrol (GSP). The accident occurred near the intersection of Highway 441 and Old Highway 441 in Clayton. 

David Head, 46, and Dawn Head of Scaly Mountain, N.C. both died due to the injuries sustained in the collision., according to GSP. They occupied a Harley Davidson motorcycle. 

At approximately 4:25 p.m., Tristan Bartlett, 22 of Rabun Gap was traveling south on Ga. 15 in a 2006 Jeep Commander when he failed to maintain his lane and crossed the center line into northbound traffic, according to GSP. 

Other vehicles involved in the collision were a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado, occupied by Michael Payne, 51, and Tyler Payne, 26 of Hampton, Tn., a 2011 Kia Sorento occupied by Jessica Robinson, 41, Jerry Robinson, 69, Linda Robinson, 65, and Jerry Parker, 6 of Clayton, and a 2016 Chevrolet pickup occupied by Breanna Almeida, 25, Hanna Abercrombie, 31 of Franklin, N.C. and Blake Ashmon, 32 of Stone Mountain, Ga. 

Barlett sustained minor injuries and was transported to Mountain Lakes Medical Center. Almeida and Abercrombie had complaints of minor injuries, according to GSP. 

The Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCTR) is conducting the crash investigation.
