Another of the finest generation has been called to our heavenly home. George (Tad) Taylor Myers, 92, of Troy, New York peacefully transitioned from this earthly realm on Dec. 12, 2021.

Tad lived his life adventurously with a passion for learning, environmental conservation, fiscal responsibility, and a love of God.

Having been raised as a Mason, Tad loved church, his family, and his community wherever he lived. He never knew a stranger, and could be counted on to provide support with alacrity no matter who asked or what the need may be.

A graduate, third in his class, of the N.Y. State Ranger School in 1950, Tad held positions as a forester in Belize, Ghana and Liberia, as a facilities manager at GE in New York, and repairer of donated items at Sharing and Caring in Clayton, GA.  His fond memories of these experiences helped to shape him into the great man that he grew to be.

He was so much more than the jobs he held. Tad was a community-spirited, hard-working, conservative man of many talents including wood-working, fixer of all things broken, hobbyist, story-teller, animal lover, avid choir member, and educator. He embraced challenges of every kind and always found a way to solve any problem he encountered.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years (Patricia Bartlett Myers), his daughters (Bethany M. Armstrong and Janet M. Holley), his younger brother (Edward C. Myers), his 6 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.  Tads warm welcome, hugs, humor, and immeasurable intelligence will be sorely missed.

Passing over before him were his older brother (Frederick H. Myers) and his son (Frederick T.  Myers).

In lieu of flowers, we ask those who can to consider contributing to the building of a columbarium at Clayton Presbyterian Church, where Tad will be interred near his son the last weekend of June 2022.
