James Joseph O’Neil passed away peacefully at a long-term care facility in Augusta on Nov. 13, 2021, after a long battle with diabetes.
Born in Massachusetts on Jan. 29, 1971, James was a Desert Storm veteran and a lifetime member of VFW Post 4570 here in Rabun County.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Karen Mary Trudeau O’Neil.
His survivors include his father, Thomas H. O’Neil (Cynthia O’Neil) of Rabun County; brother Thomas H. O’Neil Jr. (Candace) of Knoxville, TN; sister Kelley Hamilton of Chattanooga, TN; as well as five grandchildren.
There will be a celebration of life for James with a short service and full military honors at the VFW Post 4570 on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2021 at 12:00 PM.
