Lexie Justus Scruggs
Lexie Zenobia Justus Scruggs, 80, of Clayton, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 9, 2017.
She was the wife of William H. “Bill” Scruggs and was born May 16, 1936, in Rabun County. She was the daughter of the late O.V. Justus and Laura Maude Ledford Justus.
Lexie was a homemaker, a member of Clayton Baptist Church, the W.M.U. and the Ideal Sunday School class. She taught the beginners Sunday School class for more than 50 years in addition to Vacation Bible School.
Lexie was preceded in death by her parents, O.V. and Maude Justus, a sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Clyde “Moody” Smith and a son-in-law, Eddie Dixon.
She is survived by her husband Bill Scruggs, a daughter, Nancy Scruggs Dixon of Cumming, a son, John Scruggs of Vonore, Tennessee, a brother, George Justus of Clayton, a sister Judy Justus Smith (David) of Clayton, four grandchildren and a daughter-in-law, Leah Dixon and Paul Dixon (Becca), Brittany Scruggs and Sean Scruggs.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Pruitt Cares Foundation, 1626 Jeurgens Court, Norcross, Georgia 30093 and/or Rabun County Public Library, 73 Jo Dotson Circle, Clayton, Georgia 30525.
Lexie’s family would like to give special thanks to Doris Edwards and Olivia Dixon of Pruitt Cares for the excellent care they gave to her and her family.
She will be missed by all her many friends and family!
