Bert W. Stiles, 73, of Buchanan, passed away Wednesday morning, Nov. 6, 2013, in Southern Traditions Nursing Home.

Mr. Stiles was born Nov. 10, 1939, in Franklin, N.C., to the late Lake and Ethel Roberts Stiles. He was also preceded in death by: two sisters, Lillian Chastain and Lane Sargent; and a brother, Robert N. Stiles.

He was a graduate of Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School, Berry College and West Georgia College, where he received a master’s degree in counseling. He began his 30 year career in education at East Rome High School. Prior to his retirement, he was an industrial arts teacher at Carrollton High School. He was a member of Carrollton First Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include: his son, Erick W. Stiles and wife Andrea of Silver Creek; two grandchildren, Heather Sisson and husband Justice of Lindale and Noah Stiles of Silver Creek; a great-grandchild, Riley Sisson of Lindale; two sisters, Hazel Wilson and Laverne Henry, both of Franklin; a brother, Billy Joe Stiles of Rabun Gap; two special friends, Linda Stiles and Keith Smith, both of Carrollton; and nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held Friday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel with the Rev. Billy Fricks officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southern Traditions Nursing Home, 144 Depot St., Buchanan, GA 30113.

Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, was in charge of funeral arrangements.
