Brabson C. Burrell, 90, passed away early Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011.

He grew up in Clayton and graduated from Rabun County High School. He was principal at Persimmon School prior to entering the Army during World War II. He was honorably discharged early due to a leg injury and joined the Department of Energy in its quest to construct the first atomic bomb in Oak Ridge, Tenn. He retired in October 1989 after 45 years of service. Brabson had a strong work ethic and received numerous company awards for loyal and dedicated service.

He was the son of the late Carl and Jura Burrell of Clayton. He is survived by: three brothers, Schley H. Burrell of Clayton, Lyman F. Burrell of Dacula and Richard J. Burrell of Lilburn; three children, Sharyn Kuebbing of Pittsburgh, Don Burrell of Lilburn and Jack Burrell of Oak Ridge; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held Monday at Clayton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Clayton Baptist Church, Clayton, GA 30525.
