Calvin Sumner Talley, 71, of Dillard, passed away Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at his residence.

Calvin was born in Scaly Mountain, N.C., to the late Valerie Burnette Talley and Lawrence Talley. He worked construction most of his life. He helped build nuclear power plants and hydropower plants with the TVA. Calvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and was a loving father and grandfather. He attended Wolffork Christian Fellowship Center.

Calvin was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dennis Talley and Gordon Talley.

He is survived by: two sons Greg Talley and Shane Talley and wife Cheryl, all of Otto, N.C.; two daughters, Keisha Kimmer and husband Ronnie of Cleveland, N.C., and Kendra Ham and husband Brad of Newton, N.C.; a special friend, Arizona Holt; a brother, Garnell Talley of Chatsworth; a sister, Geraldine Brown of Dillard; seven grandchildren, Lee Talley, Emmaline Talley, Ivy Talley, Garrett Killman, Spencer Talley, Mackenzie Ham and Brianna Ham; three stepgrandchildren, Makayla Kimmer, Trey Kimmer and Samantha Oler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday in the chapel of Beck Funeral Home with the Revs. Harvey Conner and Roy Conner officiating. Burial followed at Scaly Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Wolffork Christian Fellowship Center, 1271 Pardue Mill Road, Demorest, GA 30535.
