Carey King Williamson Jr., 91, of Clayton, died June 7, 2014.

Carey was born Sept. 16, 1922, in Macon to the late Carey King Williamson and Iva Mae Weaver Williamson. As a child, he traveled with the Boy Scouts on Lake Rabun, where he had fond memories of Rabun County. After graduating high school, he entered the Navy and served in the Pacific theater during the entirety of World War II. He stated that he wanted to live in Clayton someday. Carey was employed with Central Georgia Railways and then Norfolk Southern Railways, where he retired. After retirement, he got his wish. He was able to purchase a home in Clayton in 1982 and has lived in Clayton ever since. He became an active member of St. James Episcopal Church and loved his church family. Carey was a loving husband to his wife of 68 years and loving father to his children.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Williamson was preceded in death by a sister, Roberta Williamson Parker.

Williamson, Patrick S. Marks, Chris R. Williamson and Georgia W. Bixler; three great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
