Funeral services for Charles Don Black Sr., 74, of Clarkesville, were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, at The Torch, with Pastor Mike Franklin officiating. Burial followed in Yonah Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Habersham County American Legion Post No. 84, Rabun County DAV Chapter No. 15 and Grant Reeves VFW Post No. 7720.

Mr. Black died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012.

Born May 23, 1938, in Atlanta, he was the son of the late Terrence Ferry and Velma Clifford Brown.

Mr. Black was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and retired from the Kraft Foods Corporation with 19 years of dedicated service. He was a member of The Torch, a 32nd degree Mason, and Scottish Rite.

Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Kay A. Black of Clarkesville; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Black Reid and Charles of Sugar Hill; daughter, Stacy Kay Black of Clarkesville; son and daughter-in-law, Charles Don Black Jr. and Rhonda of Winder; sister, Renee Black of Clarkesville; brothers, Thomas A. Black of Lawrenceville, and Frank Ruckle of Bradenton, Fla.; grandchildren, Charles Matthew Reid, Edwin Daniel Reid, Riley Hayes Black and Jared Harris Black; and great-grandchild, Gavyn Matthew Reid.
