He was born Aug. 5, 1928, in Chambers County, Ala., and was a resident of Tampa, Fla., and Rabun County for most of his life.
He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army, being discharged in 1947. After 30 years, he retired from the Greyhound Corp. in 1986 as his union's representative in Tampa.
He was preceded in death by: his loving wife of 49 years, Evelyn Law Thomas; his only child, Sheree Lynn, who was killed in an auto accident in 1973; his parents, Henry Louis Thomas and Velma Kimsey Thomas; his sister, Nellie; and his brothers, Henry Jr., Cary and Quintin Thomas.
Survivors include: his brother, Harold Thomas; five sisters, Ida Smith, Winnie Scroggs, Gladys Marsingill, Sara Martino and Blanche Dickerson; his brothers-in-law, Robert Dickerson, Wayne, Jimmy, Ted and Albert Law; a sister-in-law, Sarah Law Walch; and many loving and devoted nieces, nephews and friends.
At his request, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
