Cleo Patricia Mercer Stanford, 86, of Sylvania, died Thursday morning, March 28, 2013, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility in Statesboro.

Cleo was born in Sylvania to the late Samuel and Ina Mercer. She resided in Rabun County and Screven County for most of her life. She was a member of Middleground Baptist Church and was a retired seamstress.

She was preceded in death by: her beloved husband, Theo Stanford; a son, Mercer Stanford; a great-grandson, Charles Bolen; and a sister, Marguerite Towles.

Survivors include: her five children, Terry (Susan)Stanford, Dorita and Harold Conley, Christine and Skip Pollack, Theron (Charlene) Stanford and Merlin (Jackie) Stanford; a sister, Miriam Bevill; eight grandchildren, Diane (Charles) Bolen, Amy Stanford, Robert (Pam) Conley, Brett (Carla) Fallaw, Wendy (Tony) Harris, Kelly (Dustin) Jensen, Anita (Billy)Pilgrim and David Fallaw; and 11 great-grandchildren, Anna Grace Bolen, Brooke and Chase Conley, Blake and Collin Fallaw, Alana and Tyler Harris, Brianna and Patrick Pilgrim and Britton and Taylor Hernlen.

Funeral services were held March 16 in the Screven chapel of Joiner Anderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Ross Kight officiating. Burial followed at Middleground Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Brett Fallaw, Robert Conley, Chase Conley, Tony Harris, Tyler Harris, Dustin Jensen and Britton Hernlen. Honorary pallbearers were Nicky Bevill and Herman Towles.
