Cleon Egbert Heard, 68, of Lakemont, passed away at his residence Thursday, May 8, 2014.

He was born in Forsyth County to the late Egbert Archie Heard and Mamie Genelia Whitmire Heard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Heard.

Cleon is survived by: his loving wife, Deborah Gail White Heard; a son, Joshua Cleon Heard and wife Chelsea of Franklin, N.C.; a brother, Wayne Heard of Forsyth County; a sister, Virginia Holbrook of Forsyth County; two grandchildren, Joshua Cromer Heard and Jack Brooks Heard; two nephews, John Heard and Jason Heard, both of Forsyth County; and various extended family members whom he loved dearly.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a professional salesman for Drummond America. Cleon was also a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church. He was a wonderful loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed living on a farm and gardening. Cleon’s greatest accomplishments were being a doting husband and father and keeping Christ in their home and hearts.

Graveside services were held Sunday at Camp Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Carver officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice for cancer research.
