She was born Jan. 17, 1949, in Morgan County to Willie Sue Dye Malcom of Clayton and the late the Rev. George Robert Malcom. She was the wife of Earl Keener, formerly of Clayton. Darlene was a member of Chechero Baptist Church and was a nurse’s aid in the home health program.
She was preceded in death by a son, Freddie Wayne Keener.
Besides her husband, Earl Keener, and her mother, Willie Sue Dye Malcom, she is survived by: her children, Robert Earl Keener and Angela Blankenship, both of Clayton, and Randall Eugene Keener and Julie Riddle, both of Cornelia; two brothers, George Nichols Malcom of Locust Grove and Robert Stanley Malcom of Columbia, Tenn.; two sisters, Susan Malcom Griffeth of Watkinsville and Pamelia Malcom Kirby of Locust Grove; six grandchildren, J.R. Keener, Cass Keener, Aaron Keener, Dalton Keener, Cole Keener and Morgen Keener; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
Funeral services were held Sunday at Hunter Funeral Home with the Rev. Vaughn Stancil officiating. Burial followed at Price Cemetery in the Chechero community.
