Dever Strickland Lee, 80, of the Chechero community, Clayton, died Sunday Feb. 3, 2013, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. He was the widower of Hazel Dixon Lee.

He was born May 22, 1932, in Long Creek, S.C., to the late Dowis and Ollie Rholetter Lee. He was the owner and operator of an apple orchard in the Chechero community, as well as in Long Creek. He was also an operator of heavy equipment (a crane operator). He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Rabun Gap Masonic Lodge 265 of Clayton and a member of Long Creek Baptist Church.

Dever is survived by: two sons and their spouses, Gary T. Lee and Carol and Louie D. Lee and Rhonda, all of Clayton; two grandchildren, Shawn Seabolt and Ashley Sullens; and a great-granddaughter, Ashlyn Seabolt.

Funeral services were held Wednesday in the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with Lloyd Hunter officiating. Burial followed at Godfrey Cemetery in the Chechero community, with Masonic rites.
