He was born Aug. 10, 1934, in Habersham County to Wavery Barron and Lexie Kastner Barron.
In addition to his parents, Dillard was preceded in death by: a brother, Payton Barron; and two sisters, Eulene Tatum and Susie Elrod.
He is survived by: his loving wife, Blondine Mitchell Barron of Clayton; two sons, Ernest “Ernie” Barron and wife Anita of Tiger and Mitchell Barron of Clayton; a brother, Odis Barron and wife Sandra of Batesville; two sisters, Lucille Simerly of South Carolina and Joan Kimsey and husband Lamon of Cleveland; a granddaughter, Samanda Barron Dickerson and husband David; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Dillard worked for the U.S. Forest Service as a law enforcement officer for many years and was made a federal marshal. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army 82nd Airborne Division and was a member of Rabun Gap Masonic Lodge 265. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church and also attended Battle Branch Baptist Church. He was a very caring and loving husband and father.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the Beck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Madison McCrackin officiating. Burial followed at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Batesville.
