Elbert L. Sullivan Jr., 70, of Rabun Gap, affectionately known as “Sulley,” died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at his residence.

He was born July 8, 1941, in Poplarville, Miss., to the late Elbert and Louise Parker Sullivan Sr. He was a member of Battle Branch Baptist Church and the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association. He was a retired maintenance technician with Sarah Lee Plastics.

Sulley was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Sullivan.

Survivors include: two sons and their spouses, Robert Sullivan and Renee of Flowery Branch and David Sullivan and Amanda of Gainesville; four brothers, Archie Sullivan of Poplarville, Doug Sullivan of Sedro Wooley, Wash., James Sullivan of Jacksonville, Fla., and Clifton Sullivan of Houston; three grandchildren, Jessica Edwards, A.J. Sullivan and Linda Sullivan; two great-grandchildren, Braden Edwards and Hunter Edwards.

A funeral service was held Sunday at Battle Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Madison McCrackin officiating. Cremation followed the funeral service.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 2565 Thompson Bridge Road, suite 114, Gainesville, GA 30501.
