Fred “Wallace” Watkins, a lifelong resident of Rabun County, passed away Friday, Nov. 22, 2013.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Fred Watkins and Predda Gertrude Martin Watkins.

Wallace is survived by: his wife of 53 1/2 years, Mary Watkins; two daughters, Annette Bolick and husband Marty of Toccoa and Melissa Turner and husband Lane of Westminster, S.C.; and three grandchildren, Joshua Jones and wife Lauren of Charlotte, N.C., Morgan Bolick of Cumming and Madison Bolick of Toccoa.

Wallace was employed for about 30 years for Tugalo Gas Company and worked at Burlington Industries for 21 years. Wallace was a member of Newman’s Chapel Baptist Church. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren, fishing and enjoyed old cars and motorcycles.

Funeral services were held Sunday at Newman’s Chapel Baptist Church with the Revs. Danny Cannon and Wren Worley officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Flowers are optional. Memorial donations may be made to Cottingham Hospice House, 390 Keowee School Road, Seneca, SC 29672.
