He was born Jan. 14, 1927, in Rabun County to the late Ulyses and Alice Deal McCoy. He was a carpenter by trade and was a member of the Taylor’s Chapel Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by: a son, Kenneth Lee McCoy; three brothers, Melvin, Paul and Ellis McCoy; and two sisters, Mildred Rogers and Catherine Thompson.
Survivors include: his wife of 61 years, Doris Dills McCoy of Tiger; a son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Tonya McCoy of Tiger; a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Mary Jane McCoy of Rabun Gap; a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Frank Thompson of Arkadelphia, Ark.; three grandchildren; Hannah McCoy, Jeramy McCoy and Jeffery Dickerson; one great-grandchild, Kiley McCoy; and a special caregiver; Sabrina Ewing, of Otto, N.C.
Funeral services were held Friday at Hunter Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Cloer officiating. Burial followed at Head of Tennessee Baptist Church Cemetery in Dillard.

Susan Dianne Moore
Susan Dianne Moore, writer, of Clayton passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013.
Born in Atlanta, Susan was survived by: her mother, Emily Moore; sisters, Beverly and husband Pat Garner and Lainy Nichols and their families; a son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Sue Bottoms; and a grandson, Justin Bottoms.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
