George Herman Ensley, 74, of Mountain City, died Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. He was the widower of Mildred Ensley.

He was born May 21, 1939, in Canton, N.C., to the late Garland and Ruth Deitz Ensley. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He retired from Tallulah Falls School in the maintenance department and was a member of Blue Heights Baptist Church for more than 30 years.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by: his loving wife, Mildred Ensley; a son, Michael Tyler; a brother, Eugene Ensley; a sister, Barbara Jean; and a grandson, Brian Tyler.

He is survived by: two sons, Billy Tyler of Mountain City and Ricky Ensley (Cathy) of Aragon; a sister, Brenda Denny (Bill) of Clayton, La.; three grandchildren, Brooke Kilby of Tiger and Nolan and Callie Ensley of Aragon; three great-grandchildren; a special friend, Dyanne Dobson of Loganville; and nephews, nieces and cousins.

Funeral Services were held Tuesday at Blue Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Gabe Southards officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

The family asks in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in his memory to the Blue Heights Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, 46 Cross St. Mountain City, GA 30562; or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 2302 Parklake Drive, suite 210, Atlanta, GA 30345 (in honor of Callie Ensley). The family is at the home of his son, Billy Tyler, on Black Rock Mountain Parkway in Mountain City.
