Glenda Arrowood Voiles, 59, of Gainesville, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at her home following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Glenda was born in Hiawassee. She worked as a flight attendant for Atlantic Southeast Airlines for over 15 years. She loved meeting new people and visiting new places. She really got to live her dream job that she had envisioned as a child. She also worked in sales for WFOX, WDUN and WGGA radio. She also worked for the Gainesville Times.

Glenda was a member of Chestatee Baptist Church for many years. She enjoyed singing in the choir. She was one elegant lady who always will be remembered for her caring and loving heart for others.

Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Mildred Arrowood.

Survivors include: her husband, Duane Voiles of Oakwood; a son and daughter-in-law, Cory and Chastity Voiles of Gillsville; brothers, Ricky Arrowood, Jerry Arrowood and James Arrowood; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Jody and Albert Shirley of Hollywood, Jean and Charles Reed of Highlands, N.C., Patty and John Tolliver of Tucker, Bobbi and Mike Clancy of Clayton, Donna and Dave Ingemanson of Dalrico, Fla., and Karen and Ray Hadden of Clearwater, Fla.

A homegoing celebration for Glenda was held at Chestatee Baptist Church with the Revs. David Skinner, Powell Sailors, William Phillips, Matt Pruitt and Cecil Reeves officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Chestatee Baptist Church Building Fund or to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Hospice.
