He was born March 27, 1950, in Rabun County to Mary Beasley and Harrison O’Shields Sr. He worked in maintenance at The Dillard House for a number of years and was of the Baptist faith.
Junior was preceded in death by: an infant daughter, Emily O’Shields; and two brothers, Roy Beasley and James O’Shields.
Survivors include: his mother, Mary Beasley O’Shields of Clayton; three sons, Mitchell O’Shields (Theresa) of Otto, N.C., Sam O’Shields (Theresa) of Dagsboro, Del., and Ray O’Shields (Teresa) of Pigeon Forge, Tenn.; a sister, Viola Beasley of Mountain City; nine grandchildren, Anna O’Shields, Tucker O’Shields, Abigail O’Shields, Savannah O’Shields, Parker O’Shields, Emily Ivy, Preston O’Shields and Austin O’Shields.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Joy Baptist Church Cemetery in Lakemont.
