James G. Davis Jr., 59, of Hiawassee, passed away Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, following an extended illness.

Mr. Davis was born Feb. 26, 1954. A native of Atlanta, he attended North Fulton High School and Young Harris College. He was a member of the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association, Blairsville Chapter) and the AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association).

He traveled extensively in Europe and in the United States and enjoyed piloting his own aircraft while living in Clayton and Hiawassee. His occupation with Sun Data, Minolta and Atlonim as a digital technician specialist prepared him for his love of clocks and clock works as well as a great interest in flying, aerial photography and a passion for collecting.

Survivors include: a sister, Deborah Holman of Marietta; a daughter, Rebecca Diane Davis; and three grandchildren, Lillian Hailey George, Issac Clayton Davis-Linderman and Kylee Isabell Grace Linderman.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Lake Burton Civic Association Memorial Park Foundation, P.O. Box 1988. Clayton, GA 30525.

A celebration of life service will be held in the spring at the new memorial park at Lake Burton.
