Joan Wolvin LaFond, born April 4, 1936, in Lyons, N.Y., moved to Fort Pierce, Fla., in 1955. She lived there until moving to Clayton in 2007. She passed away Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Joan loved Rabun County, especially her dear friends at the Rabun County Senior Center and Clayton Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Alex.

She leaves behind: her son, Michael LaFond; grandsons, Matthew and Christopher of Chesapeake, Va.; a daughter, Mari Altman and son-in-law Dugan of Avon Park, Fla.; and a sister, Carol DiMaio and brother-in-law Fred of Clayton.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Clayton Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Laura Landrum officiating.
