Joseph James Bauer, 60, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012.

Born March 11, 1952, in Chester, Pa., he was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore Bauer and Catherine Stringer Bauer Hootman, and his wife, Cheryl Vescovi Bauer.

He is survived by: two daughters, Jessie Bauer of Mountain City and Mechia Bauer of Belmont, N.C.; a granddaughter, Chyanne Bauer of Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Elizabeth Weldon and husband Richard of Indiana; brothers-in-law, Dana Vescovi of Franklin, N.C., and Stephen Vescovi and wife Pam of St. Augustine, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Terry Hansen and husband Bob of Franklin; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Joe was a master wood craftsman and was the owner of Christian Island Cabinets. His wood creations were a work of art and a testament to his talent. He enjoyed cooking for his family and friends, and he was a musician.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday at the Bauer home in Mountain City.
