Lena A. Shook English, 83, of Clayton, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013.

She was born March 8, 1930, in Hiawassee to the late Dillard and Della G. Shook. She was a member of Blue Heights Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed gardening, flowers, birds, Christmas, church and most of all family gatherings.

Lena was preceded in death by: her husband Richard Lee English; and a granddaughter, Laura Brooke Henson.

Survivors include: four daughters, Deborah Dowdle of Franklin, N.C., Diane Henson (husband Steve) of Dillard, Joann Talley (husband Marty) of Clayton and Theresa Grizzle (husband Kelly) of Clayton; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Oct. 28 at Blue Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Gabe Southards officiating. Burial followed at Persimmon Community Cemetery with Rev. Danny Cannon conducting the committal service.

Pallbearers were Eric Speed, Lance Henson, Gary Bleckley, Michael Chitwood, Blake McClain and Jerry Gragg.
