She was born Feb. 13, 1914, in Russellville, Ala., to Robert L. and Florence Hargett Carter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Col. Joseph E. Webb Jr.
She is survived by: a son, Joseph R. “Jody” Webb and wife Linda of Clayton; two daughters, Jane Webb Tillison of Tiger and Trish Hendershot and husband Jim of Hendersonville, N.C.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was a Pink Lady in Rabun County and at Ridgecrest Hospital many years ago and volunteered at Mountain View Nursing Home and Sunshine Home. She delivered Meals on Wheels into her 90s. Lois was the organist at Clayton Baptist Church, at Clayton First United Methodist Church for 15 years and at St. James Episcopal Church for seven years and was the organist at Wolffork Baptist Church until the age of 95. Lois was an exceptional bridge player and an avid book reader. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She thoroughly enjoyed helping others and was well thought of in the community. She will be greatly missed by her loving friends and family.
A memorial service was held Saturday at Clayton Baptist Church with the Rev. Chuck Stutsman officiating. Her cremains will be buried next to her husband in Clayton Cemetery.
