Born in Macon County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Jake Palmer Deal and Aver Watts Deal. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Dale Thompson; niece, Renee Henry; and two brothers, Floyd Deal and Charles “Frank” Deal. Mildred was a retired teacher in Rabun County and was a member of the Georgia Retired Teachers Association and Persimmon Homemaker’s Club. She loved to crochet and knit and was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church.
She is survived by: two sisters, Susie Wiggins of Otto; and Joan Deal of Franklin, N.C.; brother, Fred Deal of Leasburg, N.C.; five nephews, Terry Deal, Tony Deal, Jamie Wiggins, Mark Deal and Randy Henry; two nieces, Laura Clark and Revonda Littrell; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday in the chapel of Macon Funeral Home with the Revs. Vic Greene, Alton Dendy and Scott Cates officiating. Burial followed at Rabun Memory Park in Tiger. Pallbearers will be Randy Henry, Terry Deal, Tony Deal, Mark Deal, Jamie Wiggins, Rob Clark and Lee Deal.
