Ray Alvin “Randy” Owens, 55, of Clayton, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 31, 1957, in Rabun County to Jane Patterson of Clayton and the late Calvin Owens. He was a construction worker and attended the Baptist church.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Tim Owens.

Survivors include: his mother, Jane McRee of Clayton; three sons, Luther Owens of Dillard, Jason Owens and wife Billie of Rabun Gap and Ricky of Clayton; two brothers, Tony Owens of Clayton and Ricky Bradley of Chester, S.C.; a sister, Melony Hopper of Tiger; and five grandchildren, Britanie, Brooke, Lucy, Josie and Joseph.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Persimmon Community Center (former Persimmon Schoolhouse) with the Rev. Michael Rogers and Doyle Patterson officiating. Burial followed at the Frady cemetery off Acorn Creek Road.
