Robert Jackson Conner, 47, of Rabun Gap, affectionately known as “Robbie,” died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at his residence.

He was born July 14, 1966, in Franklin, N.C., to Clifford E. Conner and Carolyn Elizabeth Darnell. He was a heavy equipment operator and long-haul trucker. He also was a member of the Newman’s Chapel Baptist Church.

Robbie was preceded in death by: his mother, Carolyn Elizabeth Conner Hicks; and two brothers, Bobby Edwin “Bird” Conner and Roy Martin “Marty” Conner.

Survivors include: his father and stepmother, Clifford and Margie Conner; a brother, the Rev. Harvey Conner and wife Susan of Otto, N.C.; two nieces, Kate and Anna Conner; two nephews, Evan Conner and Jonathon York; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Jan. 16 at Newman’s Chapel Baptist Church with the Revs. Ray Conner and Clay Patton officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
