She was born Nov. 26, 1926, in Habersham County to John Harvey Murray and Connice Ramey Murray. She was twice married: first to the late Hilton James and later to Marlor Speed Jr., who survives. She was retired from Empire Manufacturing Company in the textile industry and was a homemaker. She was a Baptist by faith.
She was preceded in death by: three sisters, Flora Mae Franklin, Rosalyn Church and Gertrude Murray; and two brothers, Carl Murray and James Murray.
She is survived by: her husband, Marlor Speed Jr. of Clayton; a son and daughter-in-law, David Alan James and wife Doris of Toccoa; a sister, Dorothy James of Anderson, S.C.; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
Graveside services were held Friday at Rabun Memory Park with officiating by Lloyd Hunter.
