Thomas Howell “Tommy” Lovell, 75, of Tiger, died Saturday, May 25, 2013, at his residence. He was the husband of Joyce Nichols Lovell for 56 years.

He was born Dec. 7, 1937, in Rabun County to the late Grady H. and Clifford Ramey Lovell. He was a graduate of Rabun County High School and Southern Technical College and was a civil engineer for the state of Georgia. He engineered the building and expansion system and bridges in the four lanes of Highways 441 and 365 from Tallulah Falls to Hall County and to other areas. He was a member of the NRA and Clayton Baptist Church.

Tommy is survived by: his wife, Joyce Nichols Lovell of Tiger; a son, Wes Lovell (Victoria) of Tiger; a daughter, Lisa Butts (James) of Tiger; five grandchildren, Jacob, Cameron, Andrea, Morgan and Logan; and several cousins.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Clayton Baptist Church with officiating by the Rev. Joey Thompson. Burial followed at Rabun Memory Park.
