William ‘Doyle’ Stancil

William “Doyle” Stancil, 73, of Clayton, journeyed to his heavenly home Monday, Dec. 19, 2011.

He was born on Sept. 13, 1938, to the late Jable and Rosa Watts Stancil. He was a member of Battle Branch Baptist Church. He retired from the Rabun County Road Department. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served his country for several years in Korea. Doyle was an avid fisherman and bowler and loved to sing.

He was preceded in death by: a brother, Frank Stancil; and a sister, Helen Stancil.

He is survived by: his wife of 40 years, Brenda English Stancil; a son, Trampes Stancil; a grandson, Trevon Stancil; and a brother, George Stancil.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Battle Branch Baptist Church with the Revs. Madison McCrackin and Raymond Page officiating. Burial will follow at Persimmon Cemetery with the Rev. Dennis Ledford officiating.

Visitation was held Wednesday night at Hunter Funeral Home.
