William Nelson Cabe, 94, of the Mulberry community, Otto, N.C., passed away Saturday, August 11, 2012, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, S.C.

He was a native of Macon County, the son of the late Lenzy and Mary Ledford Cabe. He was married to Emily Ruth Adams Cabe, who passed away in 2007. He was a U.S. Army veteran during World War II, having served in the Panama Canal Zone and Aleutian Islands. He was a truck driver for Vinson Feed and Seed of Dillard. He liked farming and haying. He was a member of Newman Chapel Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by: a sister, Jane Speed; and two brothers, Russell Cabe and Elvin Cabe.

He is survived by: his daughter, Patsy C. Kelly and her partner in life, Hartley Watkins of Otto, and his son, Dennis Cabe and wife Kathy of Smyrna, S.C.; his brother, Arvil Cabe of Rabun Gap; grandchildren, Tonia Kelly McRary and husband Johnathan, Ray Kelly and Lenzy Kelly; great‑grandchildren, Logan and Ian McRary and William and Emily Kelly.

Funeral services were held Tuesday in the chapel of Bryant‑Grant Funeral Home with the Revs. Alton Dendy and Danny Cannon officiating. Burial followed at Newman Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Angel Hospice General Fund, 170 Church St., Franklin, NC 28734.
