He was born Feb. 26, 1923, in Macon County, N.C., to the late Claude A. Henson Sr. and Ornessie Miller Henson. He was a supervisor for Burlington Industries for many years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the American Legion. He was a member of Tiger United Methodist Church. Dover will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; a brother, Clifton A. Henson; and a sister, Dorothy Henson Ward.
Survivors include: his loving wife of many years, Peggy Hunter Henson of Clayton; a son, Dover W. Henson Jr. of Clayton; a granddaughter, Hailey Henson of Sky Valley; a brother, C.A. Henson of Clayton; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
The body has been cremated, and a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with the Revs. James E. Turpen and Larry Cannon officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family is at the home on Bleckley Drive in Clayton.
