She was born Nov. 7, 1933, in Rabun County to the late Robert C. and Drucie Smith Keener. She was a supervisor with Sangamo-Weston for a number of years. She was a caretaker and worked in the Hospice program. She was also a homemaker and quilter at the Rabun County Senior Center and was a member of Chechero Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by: a brother, C.A. Keener; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Survivors include: a son, Frank J. Stancil Jr. and wife Melinda of Locust Grove; three daughters, Ona Stancil Owens and husband Donnie of Clayton, Christine Stancil of Clayton and Carrie Stancil Nation and husband Harry of Hogansville; two brothers, Earl Keener and David Keener, both of Clayton; a sister, Mary Ann Cooley of Clayton; 10 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday at Hunter Funeral Home with the Rev. Daniel Stancil and layman Frank J. Stancil Jr. officiating. Burial followed in the Stancil Family Cemetery with the Rev. Joey Seabolt conducting graveside services.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Hospice of Northeast Georgia, P.O. Box 494, Hiawassee, GA 30546.
