Mark Gregory Benfield, 41, of Clarkesville, passed away Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at Emory Hospital in Atlanta.

He was born Dec. 31, 1970, in Clayton to Bill M. and Janie Watts Benfield.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by: his loving wife, Melanie June Goss Benfield; two children, a son, Madison Benfield, and a daughter, Mariah Faith Benfield, both of the home; and two brothers, John Benfield and Scot Benfield, both of Clayton.

Mark was a carpenter and worked for McCrackin Builders, Inc., and was a member of Joy Baptist Church. He loved his church, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and racing. Mark was a loving and caring husband and father. He was an inspiration and blessing to many people with whom he came into contact.

The family received friends Sunday at Beck Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Monday at Joy Baptist Church with Chris Webb, Tony Goss, Johnathan Fitzpatrick and Johnny Jett officiating. Burial followed in Joy Baptist Church Cemetery.

Flowers are accepted, or donations can be made to the Mark Benfield Fund at Habersham Federal Credit Union, P.O. Box 2645, Clarkesville, GA 30523.
