He was born Feb. 27, 1956, in Atlanta to the late Bobby and Charlotte L. Harmon Wheeler. He was a writer for The Clayton Tribune, Rabun Laurel and more recently the Macon County News. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include: his wife of 29 years, Catherine D. “Cat” Wheeler of Clayton; a son, Robert Filosi of East Hartland Conn.; a daughter, Christine Filosi Lovell of Mountain City; two sisters, Becki Bruce of Douglasville and Sherry Neal of Peru; six grandchildren, Melissa Filosi, Kamryn Filosi, Corey Lovell, Nicole Lovell, Luke Lovell and Logan Lovell; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial services will be held at a later date.
The family is at the home of his daughter Christine Lovell at the Lodge on Marsen in Mountain City.
