John Thomas Grist, 51, of Clayton, passed away at his home.

He was born in Forsyth to Joel “Max” Grist of Canton and Wandrea Cox Lauchner of Fort Meyers, Fla.

Mr. Grist was preceded in death by a son, Benjamin Morgan Grist.

In addition to his parents: he is survived by a son, John Michael Grist and wife Cassie of Tiger; a brother, Joel Grist of Macon; and a sister, Haydon Turner of Marietta.

He owned and operated North Georgia Security in Clayton and was a certified master locksmith, certified professional safe and vault technician, forensic locksmith, and was a general services administrative inspector for the Department of Defense.

A memorial Service was held Wednesday at Beck Funeral Home with the Rev. Kevin Hurt officiating.
