“The Panther Creek Sale is located within the Chattahoochee National Forest, Chattooga River Ranger District: approximately 2 miles south of Tallulah Falls (HWY 441) to Tallulah Gorge Road (1/10+/- mile) to Tugaloo Village Road (2 +/- miles) to Panther Creek Timber Sale. Cutting units are accessed by FS roads 173 (Tugaloo Branch), 182 (Silk Mill), and 184 (Honey Stand). The Forest Service will receive sealed bids in public at Chattooga River Ranger District Office at 10:00 AM local time on 09/04/2012 for an estimated volume of 202 CCF of Hardwoods non-saw, and 6493 CCF of Southern Yellow Pine non-saw marked or otherwise designated for cutting. In addition, there is within the sale area an unestimated volume of Southern Yellow Pine sawtimber, Hardwoods sawtimber,  and Hardwood - Low Grade sawtimber that the bidder agrees to remove at a fixed rate. Sale contains specified roads with an estimated public works construction cost of $68,323.00. Bidders qualifying as small business concerns under the Small Business Act may, when submitting a bid, elect for the Forest Service to build permanent roads.
