She was born May 3, 1933, in Rabun County to the late George Millard Lunsford and Jean Holcomb Lunsford. She was a homemaker and seamstress in the textile industry. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church but attended Battle Branch Baptist Church. She loved golfing and ministering to her family and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by: a daughter and son-and-law, Diane and Duane Woodard; brothers, Millard Lunsford Jr., Homer Lunsford, Willard “Short” Lunsford and J.R. Lunsford; and sisters, Clarissa Wilbanks, Evilee Bramblett, Betty Lunsford and Bonnie Dixon.
She is survived by: a daughter, Donna Speed of Westminster S.C.; two brothers, Waymond Lunsford and Sandy Lunsford, both of Clayton; six grandchildren and their spouses, Kevin and Misty Woodard of Tiger, Arnold and Jeanette Woodard of Durango, Mexico, Shane and Keisha Woodard of Tiger, Monesa and Ronnie Burrell of Clayton, Michelle Speed of Cornelia and Dalewin Speed of Clayton; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday at Battle Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Madison McCrackin and layman Lloyd Hunter officiating. Burial followed in the Carnes Family Cemetery in the Liberty community.
