Mrs. Simmons died Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, at a private healthcare facility following an extended illness.
Born July 22, 1927, in Habersham County, she was a daughter of the late Connie Ruth Gailey Dodd. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Simmons; son, Keith Douglas Simmons; brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Christine Dodd; and brothers, Jimmy and Donnie Dodd.
Mrs. Simmons was retired after more than 30 years as an inspector with Chicopee and Ethicon Corporation. She enjoyed sight-seeing, trips to Mrs. Annette Blackburn’s Beauty Shop, and most of all spending time with her family. Mrs. Simmons was a member of Alto Baptist Church.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Kristy and Josh Hallford of Demorest, Nick and Paloma Simmons of El Paso, Texas, Blake Simmons of Cleveland; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Dodd of Banks County, Ann Dodd of Clarkesville; several nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon-2:30 p.m. today, Sept. 5.
