Mrs. Anderson was born Feb. 17, 1920, in Hiawassee to the late Sam Garrett and the late Elafair Wheeler Garrett. She was a lifelong resident of Towns County and a member of the North Mt. Zion Church of God. She loved to work in her gardens, both growing vegetables and flowers. When she could not be in her garden, she was sewing, quilting and crocheting and made many beautiful quilts and other works of art.
She was preceded in death by: her first husband, C.N. Eller; her second husband, R.L. Anderson; two daughters, Virginia Ledbedder and Lillian Eller; a great-grandson, Darren Seagle; a stepson, James Anderson; a sister, Ruth Chambers; and two brothers, Hubert Garrett and Paul Garrett.
Survivors include: a daughter, Otus Lee Gibson of Tiger; a stepson, Billy Lee Anderson of Hiawassee; a stepdaughter, Nola Jean Nichols of Hiawassee; grandchildren, Lesia Parker, Angela Milian, Dena Dixon, and Leta Lovell, seven step-grandchildren, Tammy Anderson, Scott Anderson, Kevin Anderson, Robby Nichols, Michael Anderson, Dale Anderson and Randy Anderson; and many great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday at the chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home in Hiawassee with the Rev. Glenville Nichols officiating. Music was provided by Spirit Bless. Burial followed in Boyd’s Chapel Cemetery in Hiawassee. Pallbearers were Scott Anderson, Robby Nichols, Dale Anderson, Randy Anderson, Derrick Parker and Christopher Justus.
