Michael Lamar Crist died suddenly Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at his home on Lake Burton.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Virginia Anderson Crist; a daughter, Rachel Crist Powers and husband T.J. Powers and their three children, Blake, Heath and Tess Powers of Batavia, Ill.; and a brother, Tim Crist and wife Kay D. Crist of Concord, N.C.

He was born Dec. 20, 1941, in Waynesboro, Pa., to the late Sidney V. Crist and Emma O. Crist.

Mr. Crist was a graduate of Slippery Rock University with a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education, a graduate of University of Pittsburgh with a master’s degree in education and of Georgia State University with a specialist degree in psychology.

He retired after 36 years in education with DeKalb County. He loved golf, boating, traveling and spending time with his family. He was a member of Kingwood Country Club & Resort.

A memorial service was held Saturday at Kingwood Country & Resort followed by a gathering of friends and family.

Beck Funeral Home, in Clayton, Georgia was in charge of arrangements. An online guestbook is available at
