Rance ‘R.E.’ Elgan Phillips

Rance “R.E.” Elgan Phillips, 77, of Clayton, passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at his residence.

He was born June 22, 1935, in Rabun County to Luther Francis and Eva Turpin Phillips.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.

He is survived by: his loving wife, Oma Jean Phillips of Clayton; four sons, David Phillips and wife Brenda, Charles Phillips and wife Joy, Rance Phillips and wife April and Ricky Lunsford, all of Clayton; six grandchildren, Anna Phillips, Christopher Phillips, Elgan Phillips, Ethan Phillips, Jessica Phillips and Lleyton Phillips, all of Clayton; and several nieces and nephews.

R.E. was a member of the 1953 Rabun County High School graduating class and was the owner of Phillips’ Auto Service for 53 years. He was a member of Clayton First Assembly of God Church.

Funeral services were held Sunday at Beck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dale Tilley officiating. Burial followed in Frady Cemetery.
