Shirley Tyler Shedd, 58, of Demorest, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013.

She was born Sept. 4, 1954, in Clayton to the late Sambo Giles and Margaret Jean Tyler Worley. She spent her life in the health care profession and by taking care of others. She had been a nurse at the old Rabun County Memorial Hospital and Ridgecrest for several years, and she also worked at Tara Plantation and Compassionate Hospice. Shirley was a four-year cancer survivor and will be remembered by her family and many friends for being a loving caregiver and her willingness to take care of others. She was a member of Harvest Bible Fellowship Church in Clarkesville.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shedd was preceded in death by: a son, Samuel Roy Williams; and her beloved grandparents, Samuel and Genie Bell Tyler.

Mrs. Shedd is survived by: her loving husband, Charles Edward “Eddie” Shedd of Demorest; a brother, Gary Worley of Cornelia; two sisters, Lydia Worley Wilkinson of Toccoa and Denise Worley Dover of Clarkesville; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with the Revs. Anthony Rabern and Alvin Burns officiating. Burial followed at Bethel Cemetery in Tiger.
