He was born Aug. 23, 1936, in Hornersville, Mo., to the late Willie J. and Eunice Eugene Cooper Rogers. He was a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service; owner and operator of Rogers Guitars in Stevensville, Mich., for 20 years; president of the Musicians Union, Benton Harbor, Mich., chapter; band leader of the Anchormen Dance Band; and president of the local National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He attended Clayton Baptist Church.
He is survived by: his loving wife, Wanda Joy Satterwhite Rogers of Clayton; son, Eddy Allen Rogers Jr. of California; a daughter, Ginger Haney and husband Ron Haney of Dahlonega; son, Matthew Kent Rogers and wife Jennie Vitty Rogers of Marietta; a sister, Alfreda Alexander of Tiger; a grandson, Zachary Morse and wife Christine Thomas Morse; granddaughters, Mary Ann Haney Barnett and husband Andrew Barnett and Elizabeth Haney; five great-grandchildren; and nephews, nieces and cousins.
Ed will forever be remembered by his devoted family along with countless other friends and family who were blessed to know him. Ed touched the lives of so many people with his sense of humor, his smile and a deep love of music. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Clayton Baptist Church with officiating by the Revs. Joey Thompson and Charles Blackstock.
