Ferdinand B. “Fred” Rombout, 85, of Lakemont, died Friday, May 3, 2013.

He was born in Indonesia and lived in the Netherlands, Brazil, Connecticut, Florida and Georgia. He was

an accomplished master wood craftsman, cabinet maker and loving friend to all he met.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; a sister, Ria; and his wife, Trudy.

Survivors include: his longtime friend, Beth Spencer of Lakemont; his children, Ingrid and Francesco of Ischia, Italy, Sonia and Doug of Jupiter, Fla., Bernard and Patty of Norwalk, Conn., Iris of Jupiter and Shannon of West Palm Beach, Fla.; his grandchildren, Lisa, Michael, Helena, Casey, Carly, Megan, Christopher, Tyler, Chase, Angelica, Jeffrey, Caitlin, Kyli and Skyler; and great-grandchildren, Francesco, Lukas, Ingrid, Luigi and Jack. He also is survived by longtime friends Dona, Barbara and Will.

Memorial services were held Saturday in Lakemont. Other services will be held in the fall in Florida.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville or Hospice.
