He was born in Rabun County to the late Carl Jackson Kilby Sr. and Dorothy Williams Vickers. He was a lifelong resident of Rabun County, a U.S. Army veteran and was a carpenter by trade. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he loved camping and farming. He was a true “Mountain Man” who was born 100 years too late. He was a very loving and caring father and grandfather.
Carl is survived by: his companion, Cynthia Welch of Clayton; two daughters, Lynne Trusty of Lakemont and Carla Dolan and husband Doug of Tiger; four brothers, Gary Kilby and Kenneth Kilby, both of Tiger, Dale Kilby of Lakemont and Tim Kilby of Clayton; two sisters, Carolyn McKay of Tiger and Shirley Nall of South Side, Ala.; four grandchildren, Devin Trusty, Jackson Trusty, Kaitlyn Dolan and Kimberly Dolan; one great-grandchild, Aria Dolan; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Sunday in the Beck Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Larry Cannon officiating.
