Sara Nell Moore King, 86, of Clayton, formerly of Carlton, passed away Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013.

Mrs. King was born in Elbert County to the late Frank Simmons Moore Jr. and Alrice Cheek Moore. Sara Nell came to Carlton as a boarding student at Carlton School, where she met Roy Franklin King. She soon became a young war bride. They spent almost 50 years together, until his death in 1991. They made their home in Carlton, where she spent her time devoted to her family, friends and church. She was a member of Carlton Baptist Church and the Loyalty Sunday School Class.

She was preceded in death by: her brother, Bill Moore; a sister, Kathryn LaBarreare; and a son-in-law, Carl Paul.

She is survived by: two daughters, Sylvia Paul of Carlton and Kathy English (Al) of Clayton; four grandchildren, Keith Paul of Comer, Carla Jennings (Ron) of Colbert and Aaron English and Russ English, both of Clayton; and four great-grandchildren, Kayla Hobbs-Messink, Wesley Paul, Casey Hobbs and Will Jennings. A great-great-grandchild is expected in June. She had many dear nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at Carlton Baptist Church with the Rev. Dwight Duhon and layman Ron Jennings officiating. Burial followed at Carlton Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Carlton Baptist Church, P.O. Box 159, Carlton, GA 30627 in memory of Sara Nell King.
